On Friday night, the parked car of CPI (M) leader Shatarup Ghosh was hit by a vehicle belonging to the IPS Welfare Society of West Bengal at the Alipore Road signal. Although Ghosh was not present, his wife and another family member were in the car, but they escaped unharmed.
Ghosh and his wife lodged a complaint at the Alipore police station, alleging that the passengers of the vehicle misbehaved with them after the collision. According to the complaint, the car driver of the IPS Welfare Society misbehaved with Ghosh's family after the collision, causing damage to the front part of the car.
Ghosh clarified that he does not believe in any conspiracy theory or suspect any attempt to kill him, but he demanded that the police treat the case according to the law and not give any special exemption to the IPS.
While acknowledging that such incidents can happen to anyone, Ghosh expressed concern about the mistreatment of his family by the passengers of the IPS vehicle. He also mentioned that no special treatment should be given to the IPS and that they should be subject to the same laws as everyone else
